Let the Government Take Care of You

Many people increasingly believe that the main purpose of government is to take care of them, and ensure that they are fed and housed, have good health care, a "living wage", ensure that they are insulated from adversity regardless, etc.

But, as always, when you get something from the government, you give up somethings as well.

Some things are benign and necessary, such as laws that make us stop for red lights instead of speeding through the intersection.  We give up a little of our time in order to increase safety for all.  Other rights lost are not easily replaced...
