Sequestration

Smitty Sez:

Sequestration has hit the Department of Defense (DoD) pretty hard, since it is bearing half of the $85 billion or so in cuts.

To deal with the diminished funding, all DoD employees, except for some senior executives and political appointees, will have their working hours cut back to 32 per week--a 20% reduction.

DoD civilians directly support our men and women in the armed forces in acquiring, storing, shipping, and repairing of their equipment. This includes food, medical supplies, ammunition and weapons, clothing, vehicles, aircraft and ships.

In my mind, this is the same as cutting off a finger from each hand of a concert pianist, then expecting him to play Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto...

But, oh, well!!

The cuts are supposed to start in April and last until the end of September.  I certainly hope the President and Congress can get a budget developed and passed before then that will provide necessary funding so we can adequately support those in harm's way .

God Bless our Troops!!

Smitty
